More information

The following steps and checks should be followed to successfully upgrade the Zetadocs Expenses Connector for NAV

Step 1: Actions to take if Zetadocs Payables Approvals and Zetadocs Expenses are in use.

If both products are used, please contact Equisys Support for assistance with your upgrade. Do not follow the below steps.

Step 2: Determine whether the latest version is already installed

To ascertain whether you have the latest version of the Zetadocs Expenses Connector for NAV, please refer to the Software Updates page (https://www.equisys.com/support/Updates.aspx) under Zetadocs for NAV -> Zetadocs Expenses. The latest version number is detailed in the entry for the connector. Please check this against the version installed on your system, which can be retrieved by the following steps on the machine where the connector is installed:

  1. Go to ‘Programs and Features’ and locate the ‘Zetadocs Expenses Connector Setup’ entry and note down the version number.
  2. Open the NAV Development Environment and go to the Object Designer (Shift + F12). Look for Codeunit 9009987 and note down the version number.
  3. If either of these version numbers is lower than the version number shown on the website, please continue with the next steps. If the version numbers match the version number shown on the website, then the latest version of the connector is already installed, no action is required.

Step 3: Installation of the connector and update of the Zetadocs Expenses codeunits

Upgrading the Zetadocs Expenses Connector consists of several steps:

  1. Stop the Zetadocs Expenses Connector and Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server (This will be named Microsoft Dynamics Nav Business Web Services on NAV 2009 R2 systems) services.
  2. Download and run the ZetadocsExpensesConnector.exe from the Software Updates page (https://www.equisys.com/support/Updates.aspx). This extracts some files (please take a note of the location where the files have been extracted) and take you through an upgrade wizard. Click through and complete the wizard. This will update the Zetadocs Expenses Connector service.
  3. Backup the Zetadocs Expenses objects:
    1. Start the NAV Development Environment (NAV Classic Client in NAV 2009 R2) and open the Object Designer.
    2. Highlight an entry in the ‘Version List’ column, then open the table filter (CTRL + F7)
    3. In the ‘filter’ column, type in *ZDA* and press OK
    4. Select all rows and click File -> Export.
    5. Save the backup as a ‘Dynamics NAV Object Format’ (fob) type to a location of your choosing. This can be used to restore your existing version of the objects if required.
  4. Import the objects:

    1. Start the NAV Development Environment (NAV Classic Client in NAV 2009 R2) and open the Object Designer.
    2. Select File and then Import. Browse to the NAV Objects folder in the Zetadocs Expenses download pack:
      1. For NA (North America) database with NAV 2009 R2, select the "Zetadocs Expenses Objects - NA (NAV 6.10).fob" file.
      2. For NA (North America) database with NAV 2013 or later, select the "Zetadocs Expenses Objects - NA (NAV 7.00+).fob" file.
      3. For UK (United Kingdom) or GB (Great Britain) database with NAV 2009 R2, select the "Zetadocs Expenses Objects - UK (NAV 6.10).fob" file
      4. For UK (United Kingdom) or GB (Great Britain) database with NAV 2013 or later, select the "Zetadocs Expenses Objects - UK (NAV 7.00).fob" file
    3. You may see a dialog like the following, notifying of conflicting versions of objects:
      1. Click OK
      2. Choose to skip the Zetadocs-Expenses Integration (9009966) and Zetadocs-Expenses Customize (9009967) Codeunits. These may contain some customised code.
      3. Click OK to import the remaining objects.
  5. Copy the Zetadocs Integration DLL to the relevant folders (please refer to page 18, ‘Opening the Web Services -> Installing the Integration Add-In DLL’ section of the Zetadocs Expenses Integration Setup guide in the documentation folder in the location where the files from step 2 were extracted to).
  6. The Zetadocs Expenses Connector has now been upgraded, start the Zetadocs Expenses Connector service and continue use of the system.
