The questionnaire below requires information about the site network configuration, installed operating systems and user information required to create a Zetalink Implementation plan.
More information
A number of requirements need to be met before a successful installation can be planned. The information obtained by completing this document, should provide the Zetalink installation engineer with sufficient information to plan an implementation of Zetalink.
Prerequisite check for Microsoft Windows NT4
This check comprises of a list of components that must be installed on the system before any installation of Zetalink is attempted. You should work through this only if the system is based on Microsoft's NT 4.0 Operating system
If the system is based on Microsoft Windows 2000 a prerequisite check does not have to be carried out as these components are installed as part of the Windows 2000 operating system.
Each section 'Internet', 'Exchange' etc. has a prerequisite check, please verify that the five following components meet the specified version or higher.
Updates to the following can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads:
- MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) - 2.5 or higher.
- The Microsoft Data Access Components are the key technologies that enable Universal Data Access. They include ActiveX Data Objects (ADO), Remote Data Service (RDS, formerly known as Advanced Data Connector or ADC), OLE DB, and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC).
- Microsoft supply a Version checking utility available from http://www.microsoft.com/data.
- MMC (Microsoft Management Console) - 1.2 or higher
- MMC hosts programs, called snap-ins, from which you can manage your servers. MMC offers a common framework in which various snap-ins can run, so that you can manage several services with a single interface. Internet Explorer 5.0 must be installed to install MMC 1.2.
- Version information can be obtained from the help about menu option in the console.
- IE (Internet Explorer) - 5.0 or higher
- Microsoft internet explorer adds dependent files that other services and applications rely upon.
- Version information can be obtained from the help about menu.
- Microsoft Installer - 2.0 or higher
- The Windows Installer service is an operating system component. Version 2.0 is provided as a service pack for the Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT® 4.0 and Windows 2000 operating systems.
- Versioning information can be obtained from the properties of the msi.dll or msiexec.exe from the winnt/system32 folder.
- Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a
- This service pack is required for NT 4.0.
- Run "winver.exe" from the command line to check the version of the Service pack.
