PRB: € (Euro) character is removed from faxes when sent via ZSUBMIT

This Zetafax technical note applies to:

  • Zetafax version 7.5.0.65 and earlier

Symptom

When you send a fax containing the € (Euro) currency character using ZSUBMIT, the character may be replaced with a p (Invalid) or blank character.

Cause

The default font used by the Zetafax server does not contain the Euro character as part of its character set.

Resolution

If you want submit files to contain the Euro within the fax message then you must specify a true type font at the beginning of the %%[TEXT] section in the submit (*.SUB) file.

The example below is using Arial 10 point.

%%[TEXT]
%%[F O N T:Arial,10]

Please find attached invoice for € 150.00

This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
