PRB: Faxes in Outlook open grey when routed to a shared mailbox
Print
ZTN1525
ID: ZTN1525
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax 9.1 and later
- Outlook 2002 SP3 and later
Symptom
When a received fax is opened in Outlook the area where the fax image would normally be displayed is all grey.
Cause
Microsoft added an "allow script in shared folders" security setting in Outlook 2002 SP3 and Outlook 2003 - it is disabled by default. With that setting enabled, Zetafax Outlook forms correctly display the fax image when opened from shared mailboxes.
Resolution
The Microsoft article below describes enabling the setting in Outlook 2003:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=827311
Outlook 2002 SP3 does not have a checkbox to enable allowing script, but it does support a registry value.
To enable allowing script in Outlook2002 SP3, you can add the following registry entry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\SECURITY]
" SharedFolderScript" =dword:00000001
The issue is not present in Outlook versions prior to Outlook 2002 SP3.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Equisys cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved.
For information about how to edit the registry, view the Changing Keys and Values Help topic in Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE) or the Add and Delete Information in the Registry and Edit Registry Data Help topics in REGEDT32.EXE. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).
Status
This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above.
