PRB: FCLASS-1 reports file error using a Digicom Botticelli 56k modem Print ZTN1142 ID: ZTN1142 This Zetafax technical note applies to: Zetafax 7 and later Symptom When using the Digicom Bottlcelli 56k modem to send faxes only. You cannot send to any fax numbers and see the following in the server log: FCLASS-1 - (E) - Error FILE ERROR sending message to remote QUEUEMAN - (I) - Error sending message [username]:~SENDxxx (addr 1) Cause The modem is configured to send only, and thus does not have exclusive access to the COM port and will not be able to open the port when sending a fax. Resolution To send faxes you need to force the modem to keep the COM port open at all times. The easiest method for achieving this is to configure the modem to receive as well as send, this will keep the port open so faxes can be sent. If the modem cannot be set to receive (i.e. You do not have exclusive use of the line) then you can force the modem to keep the modem port open. To do this follow the instructions below: Open zfax\SYSTEM\Z-DB\SETUP.INI (where 'zfax' is the name of the share where the Zetafax files are installed) and locate the section that contains the modem configuration, the section will begin with [FCLASS-x] where x is the device number of the modem, starting from 1. At the end of the section add the line: KeepPortOpen: YES Save and close the file and then restart the Zetafax server. Status This has been identified by Equisys as a problem with the software versions given above. Last reviewed: 21 October 2005 (GC/EB) Date Published: 18 June 2001 (JS/DH)
