ID: ZTN1171
This Zetafax technical note applies to:
- Zetafax connector for Exchange 2000 version 7.5.0.65
- Microsoft Exchange 2000
Symptom
During the connector install, the Microsoft Exchange Server Message Transfer Agent (MTA) service stops unexpectedly, and an event similar to the following may be logged in the application event log:
" An error occurred while reading information for directory name (DN) CN=ZFCONNECTOR,CN=CONNECTIONS,CN=FIRST ROUTING GROUP,CN=ROUTING GROUPS,CN=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP,CN=ADMINISTRATIVE GROUPS,CN=TESTORG,CN=MICROSOFT EXCHANGE,CN=SERVICES,CN=CONFIGURATION,DC=DOMAIN,DC=COM from the directory. [MTA OPERATOR 25 38] (12) "
Cause
This event can be logged because the MTA service is temporarily unable to contact a domain controller (DC). The MTA service shuts itself down in this situation to avoid problems, such as mail loss, that could occur because of its inability to contact a DC.
Resolution
Use the Services snap-in to start the MTA service if it has not already restarted. Once started, start the Zetafax connector service.
