Upgrading from a previous version of Zetafax
Upgrading an existing installation of the Zetafax Server
To upgrade a previously installed version of the Zetafax Server:
1.Shut down the Zetafax Server or stop the Zetafax Server service using the Service Manager. To open the Service Manager, click Start and select All programs>Control Panel>Administrative tools>Services.
2.Run the installation program (SETUP.EXE) from the CD-ROM or from the download of the new version. When prompted, enter the upgrade number given when you purchased the new version of Zetafax.
Upgrading the Zetafax Server on a new PC
If you are upgrading Zetafax, but the old version is no longer installed:
1.Run the installation program (SETUP.EXE) from the CD-ROM or download of the new version.
2.Enter your starter system license number. This is the three-part license number given to you when you first purchased Zetafax.
3.When the installation has completed and the Zetafax Configuration program runs, you need to install the add-on for version upgrade. Click Add and enter the upgrade number given when you purchased the new version. Make sure you enter any upgrades obtained in the past (for instance, additional lines or users).
4.Click Next and enter your details in all the dialogs displayed. When you click Finish, your new Zetafax installation is ready to be registered. To do this, you can start the Zetafax Server and open the Zetafax Client. The Client will automatically prompt you to register your copy of Zetafax with our online registration.
Upgrading the Zetafax Client Applications (Zetafax Client, Microsoft Office Addins, Outlook integration)
When the server has been upgraded, you can upgrade the Zetafax Client Applications.
If you have an existing version e.g. 2006 or 2007 Zetafax Client then, after the Server 2012 update, the first time you open each existing Zetafax Client install the Client automatic update feature will ask if you wish to update the Client now or later. If you click “Yes” and then follow the installation wizard, the install will run and complete.
If you are running an earlier version of the Zetafax Client you need to perform the following steps:
1.Log on to each user's PC as a user with local admin rights. Ensure that the Zetafax Client is not running.
2.Click the Start menu and select Zetafax > Install Zetafax Client Applications.
3.The Zetafax Client Applications Installation program launches. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest client applications.
Upgrading the Zetafax Exchange Connector
To upgrade the Zetafax Exchange Connector, you must first uninstall the existing connector on the Exchange Server. To do this:
1. Log on as a user with sufficient rights, for example, Domain admin rights.
2. Open the Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove programs.
3. Select Zetafax Exchange Connector and click Uninstall.
4. Restart the Exchange server.
Next, install the new connector from the Zetafax CD or downloaded from the Equisys website. To do this:
1.Insert the CD in the CD-ROM drive or download the update and select run. The installation program runs automatically.
2.In the dialog displayed, select Install Zetafax Connector, then choose the relevant option from those listed.
Upgrading the Email Gateway
The Zetafax Server installation program now includes the Zetafax Email Gateway files. As a result, the Email Gateway is automatically upgraded when the Zetafax Server is upgraded.
Upgrading the Web Client
To upgrade Zetafax Web Client:
1.On the server hosting the Web Client, run the install program from the Zetafax CD. During the install, you are prompted to re-enter the account name and password created when you installed the earlier version of the Web Client.

Upgrading Notebook Installations
To upgrade notebook installations:
1.Upgrade the network Zetafax Server (see Upgrading an existing installation of the Zetafax Server ).
2.Insert the (new) Zetafax CD into the machine with a notebook install.
3.Connect the notebook PC to the network and run Setup.exe from the CD. The install detects the notebook install and updates it.
4.Once the update is completed, upgrade the Zetafax Client (see Upgrading the Zetafax Client).
Upgrading API applications
If your Zetafax API application uses ZFAPI32.DLL, ensure that your application loads the updated version of the DLL installed with the updated Zetafax Server. If your application links statically to the API library (ZFAPIS.LIB), you should recompile your application and link to the updated library file, which is also installed with the updated server.
Upgrading SMTP Server
To upgrade the SMTP Server:
On the server that has the SMTP Server installed, run the install program from the Zetafax CD or downloaded from the web.
