HOWTO: Enable the email preview for RDLC based Reports for Business Central 2023 Wave 2 (BC23) and later Print ZTN4612 This Zetadocs technical note applies to: Zetadocs - AP automation and bulk emailing Business Central 2023 Wave 2 (BC23) and later versoins Customers using existing Zetadocs Templates that they want to have an editable email preview of before sending. Summary This technote will explain how to enable the email preview before sending an RDLC based report in Business Central by converting the Zetadocs Template into a Email Body Word Layout for the report. More information There are two main options depending on what data you want to use in the email body, if you have existing Zetadocs Templates and only need the data available in those then follow the steps below. Otherwise, if you want the full report data then follow these instructions on how to create the email word layout. If you are using a Business Central version below Business Central 2023 Wave 2 (BC23) follow the instructions in this technote ZTN4614 instead. Steps: Ensure you have upgraded to at least version 3.0.24200 of the Zetadocs extension. Open the Zetadocs Template for the report you want an editable email preview for in the Zetadocs Client. Copy the contents of the email body and the paste this into a new Word document and save the file. Next, in Business Central go to the Report Layouts page and click New. Fill in the Report ID, Layout Name and under Format Options select “Word”. For example: Click Ok and you will be prompted to upload the word file you saved in Step 3. Now go to the relevant Report Selection page for your record (Report Selection - Sales or Report Selection - Purchase) and filter the Usage so the right report is displayed. E.g. Report Selection – Sales and select Order in the Usage dropdown. Under Email Body Layout Name select the Layout you just created. Tick the “Use for Email Body” checkbox. For example: Test this by going to the reports page and Actions -> Zetadocs -> Send and you should see an E-Mail Preview section on the Zetadocs Delivery page with the contents of your layout.
